Nimbus biography
NIMBUS is born the year 1990 of the union of the guitarist composer Alex Rudolph, and the vocalist and multi instrumentalist composer Pedro Guzmán, both know themselves as ex-members of "Hojarasca" band of short duration eliminated at the end of the eighties. Initially (originally) "Nimbus" integrates also the guitarist and improviser Peyu Guzmán who before was in the habit of doing bio music with Pedro Guzmán in native sanctuaries of Chile, "Nimbus" is born improvising creating recitals from nothing, coming untied to the abyss in every toccata between electronic drums, sequences, poetry , ethnic stamps, music neo classic and very much rock. "Nimbus" since then till now it has been trio, quartet, and quintet.
In his first cycle "Nimbus" acts in diverse public and private places until in a concert in coffee (café) " El Patio" (The Court) they begin relation with the acoustic guitarist Rodrigo Covacevich who promptly since then happens to be a part of Nimbus society who lasts ten years until Covacevich leaves the group the year two thousand to devote itself to the ethnic music.
Then in the middle of the nineties there joins to the group a guitarist Bonaire's of Robert Fripp's school (guitar Kraft); Marcos Ribas ex-bassist of the Argentine group "Rael", Ribas manages to be a couple of years then to form his own group " SUR PACIFICO" Later Carlos Basilio joins to Nimbus the drummer percussionist later integrally of the group "Entrama". During this period there pass for the band other musicians until they come to "Nimbus" the downward German "Pit Preuss" together with the drummer "Marcelo Peña", the band at the time reaches a poetical and musical stability that lasts several years, almost until the year two thousand, date of their respective departures. Between so much, two musical young men of Melipilla who had been present assiduous at the essays of the group near this city sometimes replacing the bassist and drummer when they were not, this way naturally they integrate "Nimbus" when the previous musicians Preuss, Covacevich and Rock leave the band, they are; Rodrigo Calderón in battery and Mauro Vega in bass. This conformation manages to last four years, in that time some recordings and numerous presentations stand out in the scene of Santiago including two in the important SCD theatre immediately after a prize granted by " Goethe Institute, SCD (autoral right society), and SEGEGO (goverment award) " (2003) that there was granted to the group by ...

5 stars Exelent music for this times, very honest personality, with virtuosity in the performance and great hearted, sometimes y seem to be listening something real important like a message for the evolution of sentiment. The whole album El Aguila is a trip, the melancolic parts are amusing and the energetic ones also. Nimbus from Chile really surprised me. I been listening prog rock all my life, groups like Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Camel, etc. When y listen to NIMBUS y feel like y am hearing some of this big monsters, y remember some tracks like Don Quintero, Aurora Boreal, San Pedrito, Praderas Estoicas Mandarina like real masterpieces. I am very happy to discover this band.

3 stars This is a Chilean four piece band and some guest musicians. Their sound on the 23 tracks (running time at about 1 hour) is very varied: pleasant neo-prog in the vein of early Marillion on "Obertura", "La Liebre y la tortuga" and "San Pedrito" Spanish vocals, fiery electric gutiar and a synthesizer solo on "El alguila", twanging electric guitar, flute and a slow synthesizer sound on "Aurora", a powerful rhythm, heavy guitar play and flute on "Moledora", metal-guitar and good work on synthesizers and guitar on "Recuerda" and "Koan del fin", acoustic guitar, soaring keyboards, heavy guitar and flute with hins from Jethro Tull in "La situacion" and a wonderful string sound and slow drums in "Tundra". A good album that sounds sometimes a bit meditative.
