Cosmics biography
Daniele Liverani's new project COSMICS mark their debut with the instrumental concept album "THE COSMIC YEAR".The album,a collection of 10 tracks within a melodic and progressive metal setting are based around the keyboard wizardry of Daniele Liverani(TWINSPIRITS,GENIUS,KHYMERA),along with special guest drummer Virgil Donati(STEVE VAI,PLANET X,RING OF FIRE),young guitar hotshot Tommy Ermolli(TWINSPIRITS,KHYMERA)and respected bassist Rufus Philpot(PLANET X)show that progressive music can be both accessible and intelligently written.

Each track contains various movements given a sonic reference to specific moments in the evolution of the universe which maintain both a progressive outlook yet work cohesively as a sonic unit and as single entities.Daniele Liverani showcases immense skill in this his most complex, visionary and progressive work to date. Guitarist Tommy Ermolli's performance will only go to further the reputation this 20 year old has earned so far. This musical vision is extended further with the stunning rhythm section interaction between Rufus Philpot and Virgil Donati that the listener will have come to expect from their work together in PLANET X.

"The Cosmic Year",released in 2008,is an instrumental tour-de-force influenced by the evolution of the universe from big bang to present day.The concept taken from concept idea, taken from Carl Sagan "The Dragons of Eden" book is based on the theory of 15.000.000.000 years of universe' evolution compared to one solar year, approximately 365 days, 8760 hours, 31.536.000 seconds...

HIGHLY recommended to all progressive metal fans!!!!

4 stars Cosmics is another band or project of famous keyboard player from Italy - Daiele Liverani. After he did a great job with Twinspirits (excellent prog metal band), Genius (opera prog metal) and Empty Tremor aswell prog metal (but disbanded now) he wanted to form another band , but this time a little diffremt, in musical aproach. Cosmics was formed in 2007 by Liverani and another musician and friend from Twinspirits, the excellent guitarist Tommy Ermolli. The album was released in 2008 named The cosmic years, who has behind a great story or presentation of what means cosmic years (the ones who have the CD released by LionMusic will find anything there in the booklet, I'm not gonna tell here what is all about, must be discovered by each one intrested in this album). Now , I said earlier that this project is diffrent then the others where Liverani was involved, this time, the album is all instrumental, is more towards jazz fusion with prog metal leaning not only prog metal, and above all has some absolutly impressive musicianship. On drums we find the excellent Virgil Donati from Steve Vai and Planet X fame, while on bass is Rufus Philpot from Planet X . The pieces are very well executed, very up tempo in places where Liverani realy shines, the keyboards are very well puted on the portative, from melow side to much more rougher moments. The music is both melodic in aproach with a lots of jazz fusion twists , but also is very complex with time signatures of the highest calibre. Specially i was very impressed by the guitarist of Twinspirits - Tommy Ermolli, here is great, showing he is capable to do some very intristing and catchy guitar lines, other then metal ones, very fusion, very good. All musicians are very skillfull, very talented, and this is a real unit band, they play as a single entity here, each one is completed by each other in a very serious and intelligent way. So, a excellent release who will please every jazz fusion fan , but also those who enjoy prog metal is a great deal, Cosmics is another intelligent band from this field who need a wider recognition. 4 stars for sure, similar with Planet X, Liquid Tension Experiment, etc. Recommended

4 stars Daniele Liverani hit again with a sensational new project-COSMICS,an instrumental one, this time! Some amazing compositions from the first song, BIG BANG a very spectacular opener,to the last one ,the superbe THE LAST SECOND!The concept of the album is interesting and all the ensemble of he album is avery catchy, full of rich ideas and intense playing! This time,Liverani is focused on keyboards and the other guys in the band are of high caliber-especially the human drum machine called VIRGIL DONATI and the very efficiant and competent bass player RUFUS PHILIPOT,a very skilld musician! The guitars sre more than spectacular ,provided by Mr TOMMY ERMOLLI,the "partner in crime" of Liverani in other projects like TWINSPIRITS and KHYMERA!He's absolutelly brilliant!!!Of course the music is a pure demonstration of amazing technicians, but the copositions have a strong identity each of them! Liverani is in charge of te composition 1005,and he vas very, very inspired this time!!!The production is impressive and really powerful! For an instrumental album, the whole material is very enjoyable for all the timing and in the end the first impulse is to make again a new audition!Fans of progressive fusion-THIS IS AN EAR CANDY FOR YOU!!! 4.5 STARS and congrattulations!
