Super String Theory biography
SUPER STRING THEORY is a high energy, progressive instrumental metal band from the Sprinfield,Missouri area who have been playing together since the spring of 2002.The band is comprised of members Aaron Roten (guitar), Steve Mason (drums), Jimmy Pitts (keyboards) and Rick Stansfield (bass).

In 2003 the band released their debut album "Swimming in the Dutch Mordant" and in 2006 released their critically acclaimed sophomore album "Principles of Transformation".

SUPER STRING THEORY has been cultivating "free-range-rock-fusion";music that flows freely, blends multiple influences and styles, and breaks through the fences that surround and separate music with easily definable terms.Driven by musical experimentation and the unending pursuit of musical knowledge and virtuosity, SUPER STRING THEORY has developed a technical yet progressive instrumental metal sound. That very sound maintains accessibility through strong, memorable melodies and crafty arrangements that always tell a story. The members of SUPER STRING THEORY are talented music instructors, performers and clinicians and are well versed in various musical styles including metal, jazz, world music and modern classical,

Highly recommended to all progressive metal fans.

— First review of this album —
3 stars Super String Theory is a mega unknown and obscure instrumental prog metal band from USA with two albums in their pockets so far. The second offer named Principles of Transformation self released in 2006 is a quite good journy into prog metal realms but far from being excellent. The music has multiple influences, including metal ,jazz, world music and modern classical, a mash that in the end works quite good. The pieces are energic, well played, what lacks is little more intresting passages. Of course there is technical playing here and very diverse material aswell., all 4 musicians can handle the instruements, craftly parts but aswell some less catchy to say the least. Overall a good album, it may be little better if they concentrated more on arrangements then on skills but let's say this is decent work. Every tune might be considered good. A forgotten and unnoticed band for sure. The gatfold artwork is excellent. 3 stras nothing more nothing less. Similarity with italian band Garden Wall at some point.
