Joy Heights biography
JOY HEIGHTS was formed in 2006, when the four members met at the "Rising Sun Rock Festival" in Ezo, Japan; and early in 2007 they started working on material for their first album. The end result saw the light in 2008; when "Country Kill" was released.

Somewhat surprising for a band they don't have a key member, instead they seem to function much like a collective; where all members are equally important and each individual contribution is vital.

Tatsuya Nakamura (drums and vocals, formerly of Blankey Jet City) have developed a unique style blending influences from punk and free jazz, Otomo Yoshihide (turntables, guitars, synths) is a multi-instrumentalist active in numerous projects worldwide; Tatsu (bass) has honed his skills as a ska and rock performer with La-Ppisch; while Kazuhiro Momo (guitars) has developed a particular loud and hard style of playing, besides being the principal composer in rock band Mo'Some Tonebender.

The band can be described as a novel music-art puzzle, created by four established and renowned Japanese musicians.

WHY IS THIS BAND LISTED AT PROGARCHIVES:
Japanese outfit JOY HEIGHTS has created a work full of loudness and madness yet with strict rhythms, showcasing an aggressive passion for music, and should have a bright future ahead of them. They were suggested to and approved by the Psychedelic/Space Rock team.

— First review of this album —
3 stars For them, bad words (e.g. crazy, beastly, rampant...) seem to be fine and good appreciations.

I'm sure it's natural they have enough experience, skill and talent. Trust me, especially their rhythm section can strongly and aggressively beat and knock us. And, to be funny, we can be relaxed by another funky and crazy voice. As above mentioned by me, the sound essence of this band is percussion and bass guitar, and there's no suspicion about that. However, the most important thing is their thought and stance for ROCK MUSIC. Yes, I suggest they think Rock Music as their life itself. Namely, it is so natural they could meet and play together...in fact, they have never told the story of their rendezvous and way to union. You bet! We have no need to tell their blooming story. Because they can enjoy playing with their crazy but natural style! I think it's nonsense I express about each song in the album. Please be absorbed in their playing that funky music all. :-)

Thanks to DamoXt7942 for the artist addition.
