Howlin' Magic biography
Jesse Rakusin, born in Santa Cruz, California, grew up listening to his father's records - Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Muddy Waters, and so on. He appeared on stage and session as a free-blues guitarist in California, while experimental noise rock outfits (Fush*tsusha or Dead C) could blow his mind and alter his musical style drastically. Early 2006, Jesse founded his solo project burning a self-titled CD-R through a four-track recorder in his private studio - HOWLIN' MAGIC shot the first psychedelic noise in this way.

During only three years he produced three albums,'Howlin' Magic' (2006), 'The Holy Guardian Angel' (2006), 'The Dreaming' (2008) filled with violent, flexible, massively fuzzed bluesy guitar sounds. 'Take back the mind. Let's take back reality. It is magic, it always has been, it always will be. Revolution.' - Jesse Rakusin

— First review of this album —
3 stars A lover that I've waited for for a decade finally came to me. What a pleasure.

It's said this album "Howlin' Magic", produced by a guitar wolf Jesse RAKUSIN, saw the light as a CD-R at first ... this album title itself has got to be the name of Jesse's project eventually, and the material was released as an official album via an independent label Azul Discografica. Quite surprising this whole noisy psychedelia was created by Jesse only, although the production was not so professional for sure.

A massive volume of energy is felt via this album, especially via Jesse's fuzz buzz guitar. Improvisation-oriented explosive bloody guitar works full of distortion, that might be produced along his strong intention I guess, have been launched only via his hands. The mixing and mastering sounds very cheap really, but this cheapness is not bad at all but gives the entire album violent temper and aggressive energy, without any suspicion.

His sound creativity does not have such a diversity, but on the contrary, his sound creation has much flexibility. Nothing has not restricted his guitar & drums explosion. His vision of melody / rhythm is too dissected and distorted for the audience to follow in a typical manner. And some of his melodic intensity should certainly ring bells of every psychedelic progressive freak. Such an amateurish mixing, management or direction like this stuff cannot be mentioned as a psych prog recommendation but let me say again this album is one of my favourites longed for all this while.

Thanks to DamoXt7942 for the artist addition.
