3 stars Jaime Scalpello is a quite unknown musician from Chile, he is responsable for vocals and is meber in bands like SETI or Entrance, but aswell he has a solo career.

Under his name apear a single album so far named El rugido de los dioses from 2008

Helping hand on this album by well known musicins in Chile like Claudio Momberg on bass and keyboards from Entrace, Taurus, Subterra or SETI, Javier Sepulveda on guitar from Jaime Rosas Cuarteto, SETI or Crisalida, 'lvaro Graves on guitar aswell from SETI and the drumer Alex Von Chrismar from SETI, Entrance and Jaime Rosas Cuarteto, so he keep it in the family on this album.

Musicaly speaking is quite ok, a combination of symphonic/neo manuvres with some almost prog metal attitude, but in the end this album is far from being a prog metal release, sometimes not far from bands mentioned above, the opening track Las piedras suspendidas is really solid and Scalpello has a good voice for such music and Momberg keyboards are quite intresting and colorful. The rest are also ok most of the time.

Not much is known about this album in particular from his career, I mean no reviews or some opinions, only bands he is involved across the years.

A nice album for me, more like 3.5 stars

3 stars "FIRST REVIEW OF THIS ALBUM"

Jaime Scalpello is the singer from the Chilean Heavy Prog band Entrance, this is his first solo project from 2008. One of his band members is the prolific keyboardist Claudio Momberg: he played in Chilean prog formation Seti, but also contributed on albums from Mexican Aly and Spanish Senogul and, last but not least, Clive Nolan and Caamora!

In the 11 tracks singer Jaime makes impression with his powerful and passionate Spanish vocals, in mellow atmospheres or sumptuous outbursts, his voice is awesome. Another strong element is the way the songs are structured and coloured. We can enjoy wonderful and varied keyboard work from Claudio Momber:, from frequent orchestral sounds to a church organ interlude (in the alternating opener Las Piedras Suspendidas) and tender and cheerful synthesizer flights (nice brass in Creer, like Keith Emerson). But guitar player Javier Sepulveda is also a huge asset on this ablum, he easily switches from fiery soli to sensitive runs (in Creer and La Huella De Oro). The rhythm- section is outstanding, scouting the borders between melodic rock, Heavy Prog and progmetal, often very propulsive.

What an exciting first solo project by Jaime Scalpello and his excellent band, fans of harder-edged prog who are up to Spanish vocals will be pleased with this album. Unfortunately no other solo projects from Jaime Scalpello, 10 years after this release.

My rating: 3,5 star.

Thanks to windhawk for the artist addition.
