Spectrum biography
SPECTRUM is a Chilean heavy prog band, formed in 1998, founded by Felipe ROJAS (keyboards), Pablo VALENZUELA, Sergio GONZALEZ(guitar) and Ignacio BAJO (drums). In 2000 and 2001, they edited some demos, and Rodrigo LOCA joined the band as a vocalist to begin work on their first album, called ''Alucinante Ritual''.

Their music is progressive rock with a hard rock influence of the past mixed with a blend of jazz fusion and metal. Plenty of soloing on piano, Hammond and heavy guitars occur on an up-tempo pace. We also have on this blend of jazz fusion and rock some bluesy sections. We can compare this band to WICKED MINDS and the Spanish band HEROES DEL SILENCIO.

4 stars Spectrum from Chile is one hell of an intresting heavy prog band with sadly only one album released so far named Alucinante rirual in 2003 at great chilean label Mylodon. From the opening title track, who is excellent performed with lots of hammond/moog and great guitar chops, the music imedeatly transported the listner in mid '70s heavy prog scene. The combination of prog rock elements with hard rock vibes makes from this album a real little treasure, at least for my ears. All pieces stands as great with a plus on title track, El Mensaje de la Tierra or Maestros de Luces, there are lots of soloing on hammond/moog combined with guitar parts and an awesome vocals from Rodrigo Lorcas who is fiting like hand on glove into this type of music. What I like more is that the album is energic, catchy and well played. As a conclusion this is a definetly worth album to have, fans of heavy prog will find many memorable parts. Similar or at same level with italians Graal, with Votchi from Czech Republic , australians Cosmic Nomads, Wicked Minds or Uriah Heep. From me easely 4 stars, very nice record and yet quite unfairly unknown.

Thanks to andy webb for the artist addition.
