As an incarnation of images and sounds in Jan's mind, TOMUTONTTU, different from other two combos' soundscape, places an original interpretation with electronic eccentricity. After some compilations / splits released, he debut album "Tomutonto" was out in 2006 via Ultra Eczema label.

3 stars Full of Jan's playful mind. This ep "Seikkailun Tuoksu", released as 7' vinyl ep via a Finnish independent label Artsy Records in the VERY last day of 2021, consists of 4 interesting tracks sadly excluded from Jan ANDERZEN solo project TOMUTONTTU's 7th full-length album "Hoshi". In spite of 'excluded' tracks, the four short songs tell us Jan's heartwarming intention straightly. I'm sure we could feel easier, looser, more relaxing touches via the content in this creation. Only 12 minute stuff should be worth listening to, for every progressive electronic fan.

The first "Kultainen Lyyra" gets started with irregular, dissected beats. This tremendous unexpectedness through electronic vibes is another fascination of Jan. In the middle part of this track, we can get immersed in weird sound formation, as if he would have enjoyed child's play or been drenched in a tribal, ethnic ritual. Quite mysterious is that we can feel oriental movements or melodic synthesis. This is a kind of short song involving lots of eccentricity, diversity, and pleasure. The following "Arka Luuta" has great uptempo danceable beats with a bit of Japanese traditional hints. I guess it could be suitable for a Japanese festival dance or Bon Odori by young people. Edgy sharp electronika should beat our mind directly. "Varpaat" is such an electronic mischief. A funky, dumpy, smart, and complicated electro-sound collective makes us smile. The epilogue "Luu Muistaa" is one of the simplest electronics in this opus but piano-ish synthesizer sounds and flute-y melody buffer material are pretty charming. Enjoyable electro- art festivals, we can call them.

Please go on a short, 12 minute trip to TOMUTONTTU wonderland. Of course, his artistic sleeve picture is also fascinating as well.

4 stars I've been looking forward to his latest album since last year. And it was really amazing news TOMUTONTTU would release his 7th album entitled "Hoshi" in early December 2021. So happy to be caught by his glamorous colourful electronic sound designation just like what he launched through one of masterpieces "Hylyt", and so curious how his musically structural fascination gets developed. The sleeve is designated with mysterious ancient (religious?) symbols, which excite and encourage us. Anyway "Hoshi" is also a Japanese word that means 'Star' in English. Guess Jan (Anderzén) would have created this opus whilst watching brilliant stars illuminating the dark sky. His grand soundscape is illustrated with such a delightful flavour from the beginning of the departure "Jo alkaa niitty tyhjentyä".

"Jo alkaa niitty tyhjentyä" involves weird, mysterious but charming, percussive atmospheres all around. Repetitive, hallucinogenic sound approaches with synthesizer-oriented lovely temperature should be Jan's world obviously as well. The following track "Järvi. Kyytiin!" sounds more of ethnicity or tribalism. The front melody lines are quite thoughtful, philosophical, and impressive, Above mentioned I guess he would have sent his heart out to East Asian nations.Such a percussive synthesizer sounds in "Alician ylistys" is also enchanting. "Katse osuu sähköön" launches lots of voices like a human, an elephant, or a dwarf, and splendid cool clean xylophone-ish footprints. "Kesä oli äkkiä ohi" is another beautiful view like a smooth, delicate sparkle firework deeply with a landscape like a magnificent waterfall. Mystic touch and flavour ring our bells. Anyway, we enjoy tiny but condensed electronic nourishment in "Radio-ohjattava katse" which is filled with religious, fairy-tales-like attractions. "Malta lausua "AH"" featuring brilliant fluting attachments reinforces Jan's points of musical view. The melodic appearances are fascinating and enthusiastic, just like another fancy of the audience. The epilogue "Kyyti jatkuu" expresses slightly depressive but cheerful future prospects. Although it's tough under such a situation now, we are going forward to get brilliant dreams in near future ... he would say in the last track.

I think this creation should be Jan's message that everyone goes ahead to grab great dreams like brilliant stars - Hoshi. Yes, dreamy really!

3 stars A breaking news, that a Finnish experimental electronic unit TOMUTONTTU has released an ep titled "Elävänä Ullakolla" upon July 11, 2020, has really amazed me. TOMUTONTTU is a solo project formed by Jan ANDERZÉN. His album "Hylyt" is tremendous and brilliant for me, and I have been looking forward to his novel soundscape. He says this ep was recorded live at The Musa Ullakolla 5 Online Festival, that completely immerses me through eccentric, mysterious atmosphere. What an impressive sound illustration created with his sound / noise / illumination blended with passion and enthusiasm of the audience in front of him.

A great impact is the first applause in "Alku Puhtaat Kädet". Not simple applause by the audience. This is one of 'gears' of this track. Such an idea you could not come up with at all. As the song goes forward, you will have quite weird, mystic sound occasions launched via his synthesizer and sound mixture. There is definitely elusive essence tough to catch all over the track, but hey why not charming? In the second track "(Luulin Että Tiesin Mutta) Vähänpä Tiesin" convoluting sound tips plus eerie noises or voices based upon acceptable, danceable melodic, rhythmic lines. This sound fusion can be called as kinda fantastic confusion.

The last "Jos Asianne Koskee Kuutamoa, Painakaa Yksi" full of dreamy, hallucinogenic elements, will drive you into another dimension. Ethnic taste of blood, quiet synthesizer-based tone collective, comfortable rhythm temperature ... everything is gentle and peaceful. Guess we would be happy under such a calm moonlight even though there are lots of tough cases all over the world. And the last is applause of the audience again. My happiness is this creation. Please have a try.

4 stars Dreamy artificial electrocarnival gushing out with plenty of samples. TOMUTONTTU aka Jan ANDERZEN always makes us dream a fantastic electronic dream.

This album "Hylyt", constructed with lots of samples created by Jan for a decade, and released in 2012, may notify us he's produced samples case by case and built a structural creation up dexterously with his simple theory and simple plan. Combinations with many noises and musical phrases, each of that sounds eccentric for us, can get crystallized as a fantastic dreammare. Looks like every sound has been put together in disorder but mysteriously (at least) I cannot hear any confusion via them. Some phrases are based upon well-matured mellow riffs (especially on B Side), and basically inorganic chemistry but natural mess structure would not disturb me.

His soundscape reminds me Satan Alfa Beel Atem aka Ziggy Atem indeed, but let me emphasize this, Jan's creation consists of various unsettled elements "obviously with his strong intention" that we could not hear via Ziggy's schizophrenic messages and samples at all. We can have Tomutonttu sound-salad prepared with enormous sounds leaning towards natural beauty and inorganic dirt, and seasoned with versatile noises launching spicy, sour, bitter earache for us. Enjoy.

Thanks to DamoXt7942 for the artist addition.
