3 stars Carcariass is a technical/ progressive death metal band from France with almost 20 years career in this bussines, they release so far 4 studio albums, this is their second one from 1998 named Sideral torment. The album was issued at Impacts Records and was a step on , musicaly speaking face their debute. Growling vocals of course, like old death metal school no clean vocals interluded, it happens to be a good thing, very tight musicianship and above all a pleasent album all the way, realy. I know this band since they rlease their third album from 2002 and had high expectation with each album they release, because is one of the bands from this side of death metal, the perogressive one, where I find truly a great work by each musician , not only growlings and chainsaw at every second. Now Carcariass are very technical, imagine you combine Atheist with Death but with a much deeper voice then on those two - and you got Carcariass, fast riffs, very well done, intristing playing. Long pieces for this kind of music, something usual after all, because the band tries and succeded to capture what is strong in this style, long instrumental passages, strong druming and great musicianship overall. I will give to Sideral torment,, 3 stars for sure, good album but I think their next one is their peak and one of the greatness in this technical/progressive death metal. Fnas of the genre must take some time and take a listen to this band worth it, belive me.

And that is exactly where Carcariass sets out their stall for a large part of this ... (read more)
