4 stars Gravity from USA (don't be confused with countless bands with same name) are a very very talented young band who produce so far 3 albums. They gained across the years a very solid reputation in live circuit from USA, bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X or Kamelot were impressed big time by their performence, Gravity opening the shows from these bands. With highly engaging and energic progressive metal music they really done it with the second album released in 2010 named Midnight sonata. Well, I'm telling with my hand on heart , this is one of the best and most captivating instrumental prog metal albums I've ever know and listen to so far. Lots of tempo changes, nice moves from slow to more up tempo, done with really good and smooth passages, elegant keyboards and an awesome guitar player. The band, 4 members, showing considerable skills and maturity , even the the age of each member is around 20. All pieces are strong, not a boring moment here, all instruments are at full capacity , specially the guitar and keyboards are awesome at best. Why the hell , band with such talent gone so unnoticed is beyond me, they really kick ass all the way and far better the most of the bands from this genre with name. With influences of course from DT, Symphony X in places or even Joe Satriani, Gravity define the instrumental prog metal of our days, with a piece like Chasing the sun among others, clocking around 6.30 min, is absolutly killer from first to last second of the piece. Another highlight, in fact all are highlights here, is maybe the last tune Nightmare sonata, another major performance by this young band. So, definetly from me 4 stars easy, recommended big time, there is plenty to like on this second offer by the band and I think their best from the 3 so far. Excellent.
