SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Honorary Collaborator
3 stars Formed in 1969, their first album in 1970 and appearance at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival established them as a cult phenomenon, continuing their success throughout the next two decades. This compilation album is a range of Hawkwind earlier musics, featuring bluesy, hard rock / spacey tunes (unreleased, demo versions, live sessions). Strange but the album that I have dosen't include many tracks mentionned on this one (I have the version published by Elite). Next to instrumental interludes which include many strange, deep "cosmic" noises we have catchy pre punk, freaky rock n' roll destroying pieces that really can make you insane! A good mix of Hawkwind's best early sounds
