Oliver Kaah biography
Oliver KAAH is the alter ego of a 21 year old mathematics student, which enables him the creative output of ideas and concepts that wouldn't fit into his everyday environment. KAAH's music does not concern itself with boundaries or limitations of the music format, thus allowing the musician to explore his unconscious mind and follow the instinct in the context of heavy experimental music.

Oliver KAAH writes, records and produces all the music by himself in his home studio. This has so far resulted in two studio releases, "Antigravity" (2012) and Photosynthesis (2013). Highly recommended to fans of heavy, yet melodic, experimental metal.

Review by Gallifrey

3 stars 10th April, 2021: Oliver Kaah - Photosynthesis (avant-garde progressive metal, 2013)

It's a pity that Oliver Kaah has seemingly disappeared because this album promises a lot - even if it is a bit of a mess on its own. It's a really interesting combination of Maudlin of the Well-esque eclectic prog metal with black and doom metal sounds, and at a few moments it gels together to really work quite well. Perhaps the biggest comparison would be with fellow kitchen sink metal band Dreadnought, but this also contains some of the caveats I had with their early work. The bedroom nature and the ad-hoc arrangements do get seriously cluttered and I can't say it's a great album on the whole, but it's certainly an interesting one, and I would have liked to have heard a more refined take on this style.
