Progressive Biography

I've enjoyed music ever since I was a wee little lad. My first album was KISS' Destroyer and I've been adding new music to my ever-bloated collection ever since. It's something of a passion of mine, and as I look over at my new display cabinet holding my investment(s) here in my home office, it just firmly establishes my belief in what music can add to a person's life.

Growing up in midwest America, I have always been a no-frills, no-nonsense kind of guy. That's probably why I enjoy listening to progressive music so much. Sure, it's self indulgent, but I appreciate the fact that these gifted musicians play their own instruments...on their own records...and while on stage. Although I've been listening to bands like Rush and Kansas since grade school, it wasn't until a friend of mine sent me a copy of Marillion's Six Of One, Half Dozen Of The Other that I saw the light and started to explore this vast land of progressive music. To this day, Marillion is my favorite band; however, I've come to love bands like classic Yes, Genesis (primarily Gabriel-era, since I've been listening to Collins-era for quite a while now), Spock's Beard, Riverside, Camel Neal Morse, Pallas, Arena, Pendragon, The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Glass Hammer, Dream Theater.....you get the point.

Personally, I am married to my wife, Laurie, since the summer of 2000 and we have a daughter named Emily, who is the absolute jewel of our lives. We live just north of Kansas City in a little town called Liberty (America's first daylight robbery took place at a bank here by the Jesse James gang, which is still standing to this day), and my wife teaches elementary music here in town. Myself, I am an art director for an advertising agency and I thoroughly enjoy what I do. It's even given me the opportunity to work with longtime Rush designer, Hugh Syme, on a recent project. A personal career hightlight of mine.

Well, that is me in a nutshell. I am so thankful that I discovered this site. I absolutely look forward to jumping on every day. Hope to see everyone around the PA.
