3 stars Maybe this is the best Giant album to start with if you are not familiar with the group. It covers nearly all aspects of Gentle Giants work. It has a little bit of a concept album with the great opener "Proclamation" and the weird but well-done reprise "Valedictory". Then we have a more complex arrangement and rhythmic diversity in "So Sincere" but also tracks for "easier access" like the ballad "Aspirations" and the power(and glory)full title track which for some reason only exists as a bonus track on the main CD release. "Cogs In Cogs" is nice, too, even though the vocals seem quit strained - not a good song to listen to if you have a bad day. Take the more positive "Playing the game" for that situation ;-) For the adavanced listener this CD is not as interesting as "In a Glass house", which had been released the year before. It's not such a superb album as some other Gentle Giant works but still one of the good ones.
