DAWN

If you ask almost any Eloy fan what Eloy album is their best, you usually hear in response: Ocean of course. Perhaps I am a wrong Eloy fan... or not a fan at all but a dedicated listener, anyway I consider Dawn their very best since my schooldays. To me, there's a very limited quantity of really mystical, mysterious albums from just a few artists, always only one per artist, which sound as if they take their origin directly from heaven. For example, Genesis - Duke. Or Andreas Vollenweider - Book Of Roses. Or Yes - Going For The One. Or Rick Wakeman - Aspirant Sunrise. Or (if we forget about prog for a minute...) Judas Priest - Turbo. Eloy - Dawn is one of those albums. An experienced listener cannot understand but always can imagine how the music was composed - but not the music of this album. It's a pure mystery, an absolute heaven's gift. And for the band, it's one-of-a-kind due to: 1) the music of non-stop type (no pauses between the most of compositions), and 2) almost constant presence of string section. If in total what Eloy did and still do will be surely remembered for decades to come, Dawn will be possibly remembered for centuries.
