4 stars Even now, i love to hear the sound of this album in LP version. It brings more roar to the sound. Not much to say... the fantastic intro of John in his twelve string electric guitar with a indian rythmic ostinato, the sound of Jerry's violin, the incredible Billy Cobham's drum work... This work have a very indian felling mixed with fusion jazz. It's amazing the atitude of doing jazz with a gibson pluged into a Marshall Stack, playing so loud in 1973. The rock scene enter depply in jazz on Birds of Fire. The musicians are exellent, all very well played. It's an album that we need to ear a couple of times to enjoy at 100%. After that we almost need to ear it to breathe. Excellent addition to any prog music collection.
