3 stars There isn't much to say about this album. Mothlite's sophomore effort is, well, dark. "Dark Age" is certainly dreary and very electronic. However, there isn't actually a whole lot going on here.

The album has some very good bits throughout its eleven tracks. That's the strange thing here: I can't really pick out an excellent track because most of the tracks have brilliant portions, but then the rest of the track will be average. It's a weird predicament. That said, I do think "Something in the Sky", "The Underneath" and "Dreamsinter Nightspore" have the most awesome.

The music is also hard to decipher. It's like a cross between Nine Inch Nails and Stabbing Westward, but with a nocturnal filter to the instrumentation and vocals. And also a post-rock vibe. Yes, this album is very sleepy. Most of the tracks consist of soft, harmonizing vocals with electronic or keyboard leads. This is nice and all, but it does get a little wearisome eventually; and it can be difficult to finish the album. It also doesn't help when many of the instruments get lost in the nocturnal mesh, and almost lose their individuality.

Overall, this is a nice album that is actually quite relaxing to hear. It's gentle, but somewhat weird. It's electronic, but somehow organic, too. It contains pulsating rhythms, but also consistent ambiance. It's an anomaly, for sure, but I'm sure Kscope knows what they are doing.
