4 stars As I said on the Captain Beefheart debut review, 1967 is indeed the year of landmark for progressive rock. And, interestingly enough, so as with Captain Beefheart, The Nice, for most a little fame it has for bewing the first band of Keith Emerson, as a whole does not gain much praise.

The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack is a suberb and great forerunner of everything progressive rock would be. Only for that it deserves a special place in any music library. Not only this, great songs with catchy motives follow you throughout the entire album. Although a little "hippie", everything is in place to one fully admire the begning of a long journey called progressive music.

Enjoy.
