3 stars The distinct Porcupine Tree sound, which they will perfect in later albums, comes in the form of "Always Never" on this, their second release. By far, a much improved song, than anything from their debut release. "Not Beautiful Anymore" is a nice upbeat, albeit mainly instrumental, piece. So also for "Burning Sky".

While this is an improved offering from the band, it's still not a masterpiece, by any definition. I would award 2½ stars, if there was such a rating, but will give the benefit of the doubt here . . . I always maintained that Progressive Rock music rather grows on you . . . As was the case with a number of the tracks featured here.
