5 stars A LEARNING TO FLY SESSION

This is maybe one of the most underrated albums in the history of Progressive Music: almost unknown in the Prog scene, A Silver Mt. Zion has this awesome debut album when all those lineal Post-Rock bands were in sight by everyone. Contrasting to some bands of the genre, that are annoying in some parts, A Silver Mt. Zion tries to do something different by adding that lugubrious sound worthy enough to be played in a funeral or some sad moment. This was also the second album I've listened from the band; the first one was "Born into Trouble as the Sparks Fly Upward"; which was very enjoyable, but after listen to this one I knew this was the best.

The fade violins on"Sit In the Middle of Three Galloping Dogs" makes you dream about the transition of your body into a ghostly creature ascending to heaven. The structures are worked in a magnificent way to take you into a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions. This is an absolute highlight through the recording, but it's also good for you to listen to all of the tracks very carefully, if you can do it with headphones, you'll enjoy it better and you'll picture every single musical landscape they try to draw on every second. This is a must have on any collection.
