4 stars It's the album that progheads love to hate...and YESfans hate to love...or something like that.

Some of the songs are very radio-friendly with a touch of Prog sensibility. The others lean toward full-blown Arena Prog. It's Styx, Foreigner, Asia, and Jon Anderson all wrapped-up in one!!

Don't even bother to look for that "Classic" 70's YES sound in the year 1983 -- because you're not gonna find it. This YES is louder, leaner and (quite frankly) has a bit more bite than before.

The crisp, yet fat, production on this album is top-notch ... and the vocal harmonies on many of the tunes are downright awesome. This is a sound that the band unsuccessfully tried to recapture time and time again for the remainder of their recording history. Don't forget: This album was produced by future grammy-winning producer Trevor Horn...and it shows.

I know, I know...You wanted something to meditate to. Instead, you got something to drive to.

2 stars on the Prog-ometer.

5 stars on the Personal Taste Meter.
