Simply one of the best italian progressive efforts!!

I was undecided about 4 or 5 stars. Finally I think 4 stars are right, compared with other progressive masterpieces like FOXTROT or CLOSE TO THE EDGE.

Now let's talk about the album: In those years, lots of prog albums talked about DNA, the evolution theory, ad so on. So does DARWIN. This is a concept album that speaks about the evolution of man.

1. L'Evoluzione This long track is the most complex, with a lot of style and tempo changes. The evolution is the subject of this track, the lyrics are pleasantly complicated.

2. La Conquista Della Posizione Eretta The first 6 minutes are instrumental, and the final lyrics are very wonderful, talking about how man reached the erect position. The singer express very well the suffering to stand up on two foot.

3. Danza Dei Grandi Rettili This is a quite nice instrumental piec, but not remarkable.

4. Cento Mani E Cento Occhi I think this is the most brilliant track of the album. It talks about how men gather in communities. The final PRIMITIVE chorus with only TWO LETTERS is incredible, very involving.

5. 750,000 Anni Fa ... L'Amore? That's the sweetest track....Banco imagines how man loved 750,000 year ago. A very sweet ballad with piano.

6. Miserere Alla Storia ABSURD!! This track is very absurd. It starts with a music intro, then an HORRIBLE but involving voice comes into play. The lyrics are strong, I recommend for all not-italian listeners to translate it. The final recall the start intro piece.

7. Ed Ora Io Domando Tempo Al Tempo Ed Egli Mi Risponde ... Non Ne Ho A very long title, a bizarre track. This is a Valzer that speaks about how time runs. The Valzer is intended to represent the unrestrainable power of time.

A few words about the group:

in this album, Banco expresses all the power of italian prog imagination, all the musicians dominates their instrument. The singer has a strange but enchanting voice, very EXPRESSIVE. The lyrics are quite complicated, never banal. In conclusion, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM TO ALL PROG FANS. I also think this is the best BANCO album, followed by the homonymous album and 'IO SONO NATO LIBERO'.
