5 stars I got this CD about 6 months ago. I liked it the first time I listened to it. It is amazing. DiMeola was a pioneer of shred guitar. This technique consists of playing the guitar very fast using neoclassical sounds. This will influence guitarist such as Yngwie Malmsteen. Al Di Meola plays this album with a several number of well-known artists such as Paco de Lucia, who plays the rhythmic guitar in Mediterranean Sundance. I love all the tracks but my favourite tracks are "Flight over Rio" and "Race with Devil on a Spanish highway". In both songs he plays with an amazing strength and speed. I can appreciate latin, jazz and rock sounds which are combined in a great way Di Meola is one of my favourite guitarist and I consider "Elegant Gypsy" as his best album and as a Masterpiece. So I will give 5 stars to this album which is highly recommended for any fussion or progressive fan.
