"Change of Season" was the magnum opus for Dream Theater, without any overplaying that they would resort to later, and with quite successful lyrics. It is not a flawless masterpiece but a valid attempt at creating an epic. It's not the easiest thing to write a perfect 20 minute work, because people will scrutinize and drill into it and find some flaws. So I think the guys in the band have done a good job considering all of that.
