4 stars Eeexcellent.

As I'm just starting my krautrock collection, this is my first Agitation Free album. I have enjoyed most of the tracks I'd heard before but here the band takes their music even deeper into space. 45 minutes, 3 songs, quite incredible. Recorded live in 1974, you can't really tell it's a live disc because the audience is nowhere to be heard.

The first track 'Soundpool' couldn't be more appropriately named. Plenty of sound effects used in this one with occasional percussion, towards the very end the song really begins with some brilliant guitar patterns only to end shortly after. 'Laila, Pt. 2' is familiar from "Agitation Free - 2nd" but gets extended and jammed to nearly three times it's original length, great stuff. Last track 'Looping IV' starts with sound effects again. No shortage of outer space here. We go way past the halfway mark before any life is found. A very dreamy atmosphere. I think I'll leave it at that.

Seeing as this is my first AF record, it's rather hard to rate. Especially since it is quite a departure from their studio albums. Still, it's an interesting album and I recommend it to all you space cadets out there.
