3 stars The BOREDOMS played a hardcore, noisy brand of Punk music for about the first ten years of their existence. Things changed with the release of "Super AE" to a more spacey and Krautrock brand of music. I started with the follow up to that one called "Vision Creation Newsun" which I found to be mostly in the Psychedelic / Spacerock style of music. Yes there was a Krautrock flavour as well which is taken a step further on this album called "Seadrum / House Of Sun".The title is basically the name of the two long(20 + Min.) tracks that make up this record.

The first song "Seadrum" opens with female vocal melodies with no accompaniment whatsoever for 1:20. Heavy drums and percussion then take over, and it should be noted that there are three drummer / percussionists in this band. Piano arrives before 5 minutes followed by the return of vocal melodies. There is a change in the rhythm after 12 1/2 minutes as vocals and drums / percussion stop. They come back sounding a little differently before getting back to the way they were 16 minutes in. Piano is back as drums / percussion soften for a minute, then getting back to normal 18 minutes in. The drums / percussion stop as piano and vocals end it. The piano on this track sounds like someone taking their hands and going up and down the keyboard without actually pressing individual keys.

"House Of Sun" is pure Krautrock to my ears. I agree with Black Velvet that POPOL VUH was the first band that came to mind when I heard this song. This one has an Indian sound with the sitar and tanpura bringing that flavour. Lots of electronics from eYe on this one. You actually wouldn't know it was the same band performing these two songs.

The challenge of course is listening to the repetitive sounds for over 20 minutes on each track. There are more variations on "Seadrum" but I prefer "House Of Sun". Another good album, but not as good as in my opinion as some of the bands i've heard playing these same styles of music.
