3 stars Consuming Impulse was a step forward from Malleus Maleficarum and with the addition of Patrick Uterwijk on guitar the band`s sound was more complete.

The sound on Consuming Impulse is really brutal and rather primitive but still interesting. The lyrics are as lyrics were on most early Death/ Thrash albums about Pain and death in various forms. My favorite songs on the album are Out of the Body ( itīs simply so brutal it always knocks me out, Martin Van Drunen sounds like he is in severe pain on this track), Dehydrated, The Process of Suffocation and The Trauma.

The overall rating is that this is a good and enjoyable Death/ Thrash album. Not essential in any way to prog heads or this site, but itīs a semi classic metal album in my eyes.

Note: Martin Van Drunen later joined Bolt Thrower for touring ( For Victory tour) and Comecon for studio work.
