5 stars I went to see this band in Bristol in October - this is the beauty of getting interested in modern Prog bands - you can ACTUALLY GO AND SEE THEM PLAY! - And you can stand near the front in a small venue and cheaply (this was only 8-50)!!

There's nothing like seeing a band live, so to all you old prog-heads - try out some of the new stuff.

I wasn't wholly sure at the beginning of the gig, and my son said "are you going to get the T-shirt" (Commemorative T-shirt - get it?). I said "I'll see how good they are...."

Well, I also picked this CD. Well, they blew me out of the water, and the gig - and this CD - just got better and better - until you were screaming for more and more. They were fantastic - and so is this CD!

A masterpiece of grace and power - ebbing and flowing from simplicity to complexity beyond anything you might expect (what the heck are all those weird time signatures). They play with the music, the lyrics are cool. A rollercoaster ride through subtleties to sheer walls of volume. Play it loud!

Finishing with "The Frame" - surely one of the best song cycles of the 21st century - yet so so many are missing out (see my previous entry on "Dark Side of the Moon".

I've heard it said that Oceansize reject the Prog tag. But don't all the best modern Prog bands say that??? They don't need to worry anymore - Prog is certainly becoming cool again (after 30 years of recovery). Jsut look at the bands out there now - music is becoming really great again - this is an exciting time!

Oceansize have arrived - and this time it's a masterpiece!
