4 stars Definitely one of my favourite Zappa albums. "Weasels Ripped my Flesh" was released in the same year as "Chunga's revenge", and I definitely thing that this is the better album. The album opens with the highly erratic and quirky yet listenable "Didja Get Any Onya?", which shows clear elements of Zappa's Edgar Varese influences. Other album highlights are "The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbecue", which can only be described as, well..... a bizarre but brilliant tribute to Eric Dolphy. My personal favourite track is "The Orange County Lumber Truck", which comes away from Zappa's quirk for a moment to present some excellent band performance and guitar playing. I would give this album 4/5 and not 5/5 purely because it is not very accessible to some prog fans. An excellent album though, and essential for any Zappa fan.
