3 stars Trephine is a band that mixes elements of math rock, progressive rock/metal and even hardcore tendencies. The album incorporates intensive guitar play as well as drums and an extremely distorted bass. This band unlike other math related bands feature a heavier sound that fits all well into the unique sound of the band.

The album starts of with a strange creepy hollow rhythm that can be related to those found in post metal, all to start a very explosive guitar rhythm which it can be found in most of the other songs of the album. There are many constant rhythm changes all in which you never know if you're in the next song or still in the same song. The constant rhythm and melody keeps you want to listen over and over this album to hear what did your ear missed. Another thing I liked was the start of the Devil's Activist, which starts of with some sort of movie cut that sounds like one of those creepy terror movies of the 60 or 70.

In overall the entire album is good, the sound and music above all have good quality so I can't complain about how the music sounds and if your a fan of instrumental progressive metal with a bit of a twist your going to love this album. A very interesting album.
