5 stars Two things first:I always considered FZ as a most prolific and influental american rock musician of all times.Number and profile of musicians that played in his band over the yeras is just mind blowing.Secondly,Frank's unique guitar playing style was impossible to copy in any way, shape or form.Well, apparently ,not so!I was lucky to recently see live presentation of Dweezil Zappa's project Zappa plays Zappa and was blown away by Dweezil's playing, note for note of his dad's most beautiful solos, including immortal The Illinois Enema Bandit featuring Unbelievable Ray White on vocals. One of best live shows I've seen so far.Don't mis a chance to see this band, they're closest to original Zappa that you can get.IMHO Zappa in New York is the best of many live albums by the genius. The sheer instrumental brilliance and stingy lyrical criticism of,mostly social themes in american society make this album one of the best live documents ever,on par with, say,Gentle Giant's Playing the fool.Highlists, beside afforementioned Illinois Enema Bandit include Black Page 1&2(Terry Bozzio at his best),Cruising for burgers and hillarious Titties and beer. Also, worth mentioning is closing instrumental extravaganza of Purple lagoon/Approximatemedley.Line-up consisting of 13 musicians includes some of the bigest names of american rock and jazz scene with special guest Eddie Jobson on keyboards and violin. For anyone not familiar with Zappa's work this is the best starting point, for everyone else, essential Zappa listening.Highly recommended.51/2 stars.
