3 stars It is easy to tell that SYMPHONY X put their focus on the song The Odyssey with this album, because the rest of the album really suffers. The complex and powerful title track has to be one of SYMPHONY X's finest accomplishments. Unfortunately the rest of the album detracts from the masterpiece song, similar to the album Tarkus by ELP. Songs like Wicked and Inferno are cool for some time, while Accolade II fails to match up to the quality of the original Accolade. Awakenings and the rest of the tracks failed to really grab me, which I find is too bad because The Odyssey is such a great song. This album is recommended mainly for the masterpiece title track, and maybe some of the other songs, depending on the listener.
