BUCKETHEAD - PIKE 60 - FOOTSTEPS

19th album out of 60 in 2014 and 90th overall

All sounds brought to you by Buckethead and all instrumental

This one has only ONE track that clock in at 29:15

Yeah, one long track. Can this possibly be a good thing?

"Footsteps" (29:15) starts out just as i expected. Clean, mellow and slow guitars that are slightly echoey. After a few frenetically weird albums, the timing seems right to have one of the slow ones. A melody starts with the guitar as the bass joins in but the drums although subdued a somewhat more intricately designed than the average snail-paced PIKE. There is also some nice atmospheric keyboard parts to put a glaze on it all. The melody isn't that bad actually. I'm not hating this instantly like some of these. Although i don't hate this one it does continue the same riff on and on and on. I do like the tribal drumming that is added instead of regular drums alone. The track does pick up slightly as it goes on. Around the 9 minute mark it still has the same riff and all but the tempo is picking up subtly and the guitar licks are becoming less shy and doing more slidey things. Twenty minutes in, the same riff with nothing new under the sun. I'm thoroughly over it. At least i can run to take a piss and not feel like i'm missing out. By the end i'm finding the cracks on the ceiling more interesting. I'm quite bored. You've heard about filler tracks? Well, BUCKETHEAD has taken it to a new level and created filler albums! This one started out somewhat ok but yawn???zzzzzzzz???snore???
