5 stars Every two or three years I put the Six Wives of Henry VIII on the turntable ;-) and it's still a delight, even after twenty years now. It's an incredibly fascinating album, blending some many modern styles with 16th century music and it's not cracking at the seams. The only comparison I can find is the genius of Gentle Giant who did similar things. Not one single weak track, though the album is rather diverse; each song has its own feel and I think Wakeman fell a bit in love with Anne of Cleves whom Henry VIII heartedly disliked and called her The Dutch Mare. The musicianship is outstanding - that goes without saying. If this record isn't worth 5 stars then no prog album is. Highly recommended!
