4 stars Instrumental Greggery Peccary!

This is the Zappa archival release we have been waiting for. Live concert from the 'Little' Wazoo band tour, it contains great versions of a number of Zappa tunes. For those of us (including me) that do not like the high-pitch munchkin voice-over on the original Greggery Peccary suite (from 'Studio Tan'), here is an instrumental version with some interesting differences from the Studio Tan version. This alone is worth the price of the disc. The versions of Processional March and Penis Dimension are also quite good here, and Approximate is decent too. But the very best track is the version of Big Swifty, which is MUCH better than the version on Waka/Jawaka. (On the other hand, while good, the version of Grand Wazoo here is not as good as the original version). The sound quality is very good too, and there are some interesting solos. Altogether, this is up there with Grand Wazoo, really it is the missing companion to that album. If you liked Grand Wazoo, or any of Zappa's all-instrumental jazz or classical albums, you will really like this. I rate it 8.1 out of 10 on my 10-point scale, which translates to 4 PA stars.
