4 stars It's been a while since I've heard a post rock band as attractive as this one. Whitewater is Transits debut LP and features a more eclectic sound compared to their debut EP, and it even has vocals. The atmosphere on each song takes you to different journeys of musical intensive emotion and while the band has a lot of common traits from Yndi Halda, The Pirate Ship Quintet and in very small amounts of Sigur Rós they somehow take all of these qualities and ideas and develop a more distinctive sound that many other post rock bands fail to have.

Whitewater kicks it off with "Boat Song"; a song that sounds very dark in a sense and truly stands out from the rest of the album. Its atmosphere and emotion truly captured me on this one. Following this one is "Maribor" and while it starts with a very popish/punk oriented drum intro, its rhythm is very catchy from beginning to end. "Thor" on the other hand is the second longest song of the album lasting 9:56 and it's the only song to feature vocals, which make the song appealing even when the song gets a bit boring in the end. Another good track has to be "No Smoking Gun" which sounds a bit menacing and angry and reminds a lot of The Pirate Ship Quintet. "Trees" on the contrary to "No Smoking Gun", has a more happy atmosphere. The next song January is the longest song of Whitewater and I would have to say that this is the most standout song of the rest due to its length (14:10) and incredible atmosphere, which sounds similar to THP, Red Sparowes. The last song Lucas, sounds heavily influenced by Sigur Rós. Just imagine Sigur Rós without the vocals.

In the end all we get is one pleasant to hear post rock epic. Transit sure knows how to deliver really good ideas in a variety of ways by not staying in the same habitual post rock scheme.
