4 stars I bought this little sucker for the album cover. Hey any band that puts a bong (or waterpipe) on their artwork was OK by me back in the day. Having heard and loved Remember The Future (thanks Ritchie and John) I was expecting more of the same and boy was I surprised. This album is not like RTF at all. It's spacier, heavier and really a beautiful work in its own right. Its my favorite Nektar album by far. These guys didn't play up their instrumental virtuosity, rather they concentrated on the compositions and by doing so created one of the great masterpieces of hard rocking prog rock. Comparisons to Pink Floyd aren't far off the mark, but Nektar are their own band with their own unique melodic sense and are much heavier in sound than Floyd. BTW I used to think that the best track was the side long Tab, now however I like the shorter songs just as much. Like I said I think Tab is their best album, this thing kicks ass and takes names.
