4 stars Being my first Pendragon album release since Fly High Fall Far I was excited but not sure how the whole album would sound.

To sum it up in one word I would choose Drive because the whole band are so together from Clive's masterful keys, Peters driving and melodic bass but the real difference is Scott Highams drumming.

Coming from a metal background Scott adds real drive and agression whilst still keeping to relevance of the track. This is topped off by Nick Barrett who is really at the top of his game, alot more aggression than Believe with some really driving rhythm work and blistering leads when required but also some very soulful work especially on Indigo and Its Only Me.

Indigo the first track is 13 minutes long with a menacing intro and sampled junkyard dog (greasy alsatian?) breaks into a great lead line, plenty of mood changes and lots of showcasing of Mr Higham!!

Eraserhead starts with a fanstastic riff, the quality of the production is evident throught and continues changinf tempo through to a great solo.

Comatose is a 3 parter which will suprise a few listeners the time spent in the studio with Karl Groom has really paid off , the last part stand out for me.

Then we get Freakshow, very heavy blistering guitarwork great chorus one of the high points.

The Its Only Me, a very emotional song, greaf harmonica on intro and a very well crafted song.

This album will surprise a few people especially those who claim Pendragon have been formulistic, this breaks new ground and remains strong after many listens.

Nick and the guys have really pulled of a fantastic record which I thoroughly recommend.
