2 stars "Another Day" is a single released in 1993 by US progressive metal act Dream Theater. The single was released by Warner Music and contains three tracks. The first track on the single is the version of the track "Another Day" which also is featured on Dream Theaterīs second full-length studio album "Images and Words (1992)". The two remaining tracks are a live version of "Another Day" and "A Fortune in Lies". The latter appeared in itīs original studio form on Dream Theaterīs debut full-length studio album "When Dream and Day Unite (1989)".

The studio version of "Another Day" is a bit unnecessary if you already have "Images and Words", but of course thereīs nothing unusual in having the original version of the "title" track included on a single release. Itīs a cleverly written ballad type track. The live version of "A Fortune in Lies" is taken directly from the Dream Theater live album "Live at the Marquee (1993)" and the same is true for the live version of "Another Day". However the latter only appears on the Japanese version of "Live at the Marquee (1993)" while "A Fortune in Lies" are present on both the "regular" version and the Japanese special version of "Live at the Marquee (1993)". Both are great versions of the songs. Itīs notable that the parts on "Another Day" that were played by saxophone on the original studio version of the track, are played by Kevin Moore on the keyboards on this live version. The exact same live version of "Another Day" is also present on the "Lie" single from 1994.

This single is very much a fan item as all 3 tracks also appear on other releases. The quality of the music is of course extremely high but itīs not unreasonable to question why anyone but the most diehard fans should invest in this release. Therefore a 2.5 star rating is warranted.
