YOUNG AMERICANS

David Bowie has played an impressive amount of styles in his musical career. Young Americans was the soul project of Bowie. He wanted to play soul music and hired a black female background choir to fulfill his wish. Entitled Young "Americans" this became his biggest commercial succes as Americans are proud people who do like some American interest.

I do posses most of the 60's and 70's records of David Bowie and I must admit this one is one of my favourites. While I'm not in soul-music as a genre I became a fan of Bowie and rapidly got all his records in a second hand state. It's hard to explain why I do like this record so much. I think most of songs are realy catchy and Bowie shines on the vocals. The song "fame" I did not like till I heard it in the context of this record. Here it sounds great.

This is not a progressive record and is not realy related to prog as well. Still, this record is also musically interesting because of the wind-sections, funky guitarrhythms and effective songwriting. Nice roomchamber music!
