5 stars One of those 'love-it-or-hate-it' albums, apparently.

Progressive rock-lovers hate a few things: disco, punk and pop. Although I'm not very fond of disco and punk (although they can be entertaining), there's absolutely nothing wrong with pop. I love pop-melodies, structures and lush productions.

Renaissance were not a band that jumped the punk- and disco-bandwagon, but they had a knack for popmusic, as shown on this record. Wereas the band were pure classical symphonic and their prime, the produced more popmusic towards and during the 80's.

Because the band were still performing high-class music and Annie Haslam is still one of the best vocalists in music (together with Kate Bush, Ann Wilson and Susanne Sundfor), the music of Renaissance is Always a treat.

A Song for All Seasons is comprised of a few classic prog/sympho songs: Opening Out, Day of the Dreamer and the titletrack, the rest of the album consists of beautiful (shorter) popsongs, wich work very well. Even Jon Camp gets to sing two songs, wich he does perfectly.

And the middle part of Day of the Dreamer must be the most beautfully constructed and sung piece of music ever made, rivalling Ashes are Burning.

There's really nothing wrong with this album.
