4 stars Accommodating to the circumstances was something very important and surely very difficult for all the older rock bands at the 80's. Music industry pressured them hard for hit singles or many times you were withdrawn from the company. We have to see things through and within the circumstances of every era and not judging things with today's aspects or with the 70's aspects, so Yes and all their colleagues have many extenuation s. And another matter is that as musicians some of those bands felt the need to try something different and new than continuously producing 10 minutes or 20 minutes songs and to be honest they really had no need to prove anything-they had already proven it in the 70's with all their masterpieces. Musically 90125 is not bad at all-you can find all the core elements of progressive music in the structure of the songs: Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Cinema, Changes(how many bands of that era had the ability to create an AOR song with such intro), City Of Love. All right it is very commercial but it is not disrespectful at all(If pop music, as the previous reviewer said, was so sophisticated maybe I would have been a pop fan...ha) And Yes even then left out a trademark used so many times by bands of other music genres and it isn't anything else than the effect in the bridge to Trevor Rabin's solo at Owner Of A Lonely Heart, you know what I mean...Very clever one! Of course the musicianship is as always excellent and the production too. All in all a very decent album, not progressive rock of the 70's but progressive rock accommodated and polished at its edges, able to adjust in those times.
