Someone please tell of a progressive rock album that is better than BBS so I can have a good laugh. Actually, I wouldn't laugh if you mentioned Relayer by Yes, but I would have to say thay you're comparing apples and oranges; the very best apples and oranges, mind you. Or does ELP sound more like pineapple?

As Greg Lake once said, It's art. One person will cry over it and the next person will piss on it. But having disected every keyboard, bass, drum and vocal part of the album I still marvel at the musical and artistic prowess displayed on it. Many people will not comprehend how Keith deveops themes, how unpredictable yet stiking his rhythms are, how he squeezes artistry out of crude new synthesizers, how he blends the old and the new, blends the simple with the sophisticated, how he captures, condenses, and enhances the long winded Ginastera piano concerto into a tight bold fresh ELP piece unlike anything anyone has ever heard before...then there's Greg and Carl.

Still You Turn Me On, with it's beatiful 12 string, harpsichord, and those futuristic harem sounding guitar effects.....or how about Carl's percusstion in Toccata or the haunted house middle section of the 2nd Impression....or just about the coolest set of fills ever played toward the end of the 3rd Impression.

Music simply doesn't get any better than this, folks....different maybe, maybe performed better at times, maybe engineered better at times...

If you want something to eat dinner to, or dance to, or have sex to, or drone while your attention is elsewhere, look elsewhere. If you want music that is both superior in craftsmanship, and that is in your face intense and that makes it's own rules, that will stand the test of time, that is brilliant whether played by ELP or a high school band, well, you get the picture.

And this is only what I have to say tonight...tired...right before bed....
