2 stars While I do enjoy listening to this EP, I think it offers more of a nostalgia factor than anything. I like the opening track, and while the others are good, the offering on the whole is altogether too inconsistent. It is definitely a break from the sound of At the Drive-In, but it isn't crafted with the same mastery as Deloused or Frances. While I think that every great band has to start out somewhere, I wouldn't necessarily give this EP to someone who wanted to discover what this band was all about. In short, this is an enjoyable look at the early Mars Volta, but I don't consider it an essential offering by this wonderfully talented band.
