4 stars Yesterdays is a compilation album by UK symphonic prog rockers Yes released in 1975. The album consists of songs from their first two full-length studio albums Yes (1969) and Time and a Word (1970) plus one new song which is a cover song loosely based on Simon & Garfunkelīs America. America was recorded in 1971 and had already appeared on the the Atlantic Records sampler album The New Age of Atlantic, but for most Yes fans this was their first oppertunity to hear the song.

The song selection is really good and maybe this is not a popular thing to say but if you have Yesterdays Iīd say you donīt really need those first two rather mediocre albums from the band. Favorites like Time and a Word, Then, Astral Traveller and Survival are present on this compilation in addition to the 10:31 minute long version of America ( with some extented instrumental sections which wasnīt featured on the original version).

As far as compilation albums go this one is a great asset IMO. I listen to it regularly which canīt be said about Yes and Time and a Word. It might seem a bit much to give Yesterdays a 4 star rating but I really think itīs an excellent and highly recommendable album.
