4 stars "Parksound" is the debut EP-album of the St. Petersburg jazz-rock trio OT&DO consisting of: Sergey Gorchaninov (keys), Stanislaw Rybinski (bass), Nikita Petrov (drums). This release includes six tracks and lasts about 20 minutes. Part of this stuff then should be included in the band's first full-length album; but it's about the part, so this EP is, to some extent, exclusive. The title of the album clearly indicates the place where the album was recorded, mixed and mastered ? Parksound studio, led by keyboardist and leader of the wonderful St. Petersburg band Serdimontana Dmitry Chichagov. The great sound of the EP is largely an outcome of his efforts.

The album begins with the song "Broken Clock", and ends with the song "Broken Clock Broke", which is an elongated version of the "opener" release, but with participation of two guitarists - Vladimir Mikhaylov (Enine, Rozmainsky & Mikhaylov Project) and Ruslan Sobinin (Triptones, Serdimontana). Mikhaylov played also in yet another track - the penultimate thing "Night with You". These works and the third track "Circus Burnt" ? which sounds unexpectedly in a baroque manner ? are the highlights of the EP. The fourth composition of the release, "May I", in which Stanislav Rybinski plays the guitar, is a little bit weaker, and the beginning of this piece with its "jazz serenity" resembles a fragment from "the Doorway" by Spock's Beard. Only the "Reverse" seems much weaker than the others and is not remembered even after several auditions.

Will the group be able to maintain the attention of the audience with short compositions throughout the duration of the full-length album? I think this question is in the affirmative. Nevertheless, I believe that in order to make this album as convincing as possible, OT&DO members should try to lengthen at least some of the pieces, and also try to add additional instruments in some compositions...
