5 stars An OMNI! 1 Shroud Of False the solemn intro that kills, but it's not hard, what are they doing? the voice, Vincent's voice that catches you off guard and the sonic violence that invades you 2 Fragile Dreams and this oriental bouzouki, this apoplectic rise, this drum kit with the dog mascot beating time, this strident guitar that wets your last hair, the absolute musical dream staged! Yes, I've been waiting for this for a long time and it's happened, I'm swooning, I'm paralyzed by so much beauty, the time Vincent belches gently, politely, the extreme death prog is over, we're back on the ANATHEMA highway, the ultimate sound with this heady melody. In short 2 huge chained titles 3 Empty dark, austere, with a redundant air of the previous one before letting the horses do the hobby, the job what; haunting, 'drug', breathtaking atmosphere up to the ambient piano version 4 Lost Control and the return of the monolithic wooden piano, the one with 8 keys on which we all played... as children; Shaun taps orchestrally on it, Vincent knows how to keep you waiting; the track is both gripping and languorous, emotional and intimate, yet another oxymoron in this particular prog world; the acoustic guitar that tickles your ears, a long rapid moment of passive melancholy; a vocal that holds the road ahead of the notes... a time before the violin returns and takes us into this fetid space from which death itself fears to remain there; ah this cello it remains engraved in me despite the passage of time; a long piece that seems even longer if we add the emotion in us 5 Re-Connect follows, rock suited to proven spleen, rock like the Soen, Katatonia and other dark metal groups hastened to rush in; air that refers to previous albums more rough question prog but also more violent 6 Inner Silence and my favorite slap, the one I like to see coming, no longer fighting; a captivating title, a progressive variation where I'm just waiting for the end to put it back; the plaintive, contemplative, sinuous, languorous tune (again!!) in which you nestle, Duncan's piano which crushes your guts; hush the battery arrives with sound, with sound, with, ave, av, a! arghhh! 7 Alternative 4 for ... the eponymous title and the sound ANATHEMA au fait de son art; the drums at once following the angelic voices, the bells, the smoldering guitar, the monstrous RIFF, the one that makes you shiver, get up from your chair... perfection exists with this title, it hums, it sparkles, prog dark metal that's it for me, more than haunting, the sound of the guitar that responds to this wild, monolithic drums; good close the door dondiou; now the voice becomes extra-terrestrial... a de facto OMNI just before the release of the horses, dreamlike and strong, contemplative and soaring... perfection is there on this sub-Saharan cry 8 Regret brings us back to the normal sound with this melodic and depressive guitar arpeggio... when the darkness is painted even more black, we reach an abyssal clarity; the organ is deep and sends back to the archaic tune, the melody wants to be soft, crescendical, a little voice from beyond to accentuate this organ... deep, abyssal, yes everything is black here; a long musical monologue to keep getting drunk, a piece to listen to! 9 Feel for rock, hard rock à la DEEP PURPLE archaic too, Duncan's organ which is about to leave merges with sadness and joy, monolithic, a mountain of coldness this air; the rise for the chorus under icy acoustic notes leads to the enjoyable firmament; the cry to 'The Wall' does not move you more despite the frightening rendering, you are prowled; and it goes up for the finale, debauchery of rolling lust, rumbling of drums and saturated guitar, giant 10 Destiny for the final pearl, a chilling sound of DEAD CAN DANCE, a metronomic rhythm worthy of a 'Silent Hill' which will come much later, to reassure you that darkness is beautiful, that the end can be an alternative.. .yes but not before 4 thoughts so as not to fall into this collective suicide.
