4 stars On 2014's The Unseen Cord, Salem Hill delivers an album with five good songs sandwiched in between two great ones. The playful opening track Float and the beautiful epic Noon are some of my favorite tracks from the band. The album's atmospheres range widely from serene to moody, and from sweet to bitter. For me there is lots to enjoy here: the nice slightly jazzy grooves, reflective lyrics, cool keyboards solos, and Carl Groves's distinctive vocal style are the main things to mention. So, don't let the slightly unappealing album cover turn you away from this album (my apologies to whoever made the artwork).
