Heart of the Matter
3 stars Things not entirely praising have been said from this, the eighth studio album by Rainbow Serpent, as, for example, that it is pointlessly overabundant in the uninterrupted use of sequencers. And that the music would be mostly derivative from such icons of the Berlin & Düsseldorf Schools, as Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.

I think there's moments of aural pleasure awaiting here, nevertheless. And that's primarily because the compositions themselves are not merely copies of "Autobahn", "Stratosfear", or whatever. The influences are certainly there, clearly audible, but rather contributing to the creative process than supplanting it. It's a good album, but don't expect any stylistic revolution to ocurr while listen to it, because that's not going to happen.
