2 stars If this is the first ever death metal album or not is a matter of debate. The fact is that this album contains most of what we today would define as the death metal scene.

The music is pretty lightweight and melodic compared to the outputs from heavyweights like Suffocation, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse. The music on Scream Bloody Gore is also pretty simple with a typical verse-refrain-verse-refrain-guitarsolo-verse setup. Not unlike the blueprint from the pop/rock scene in other words. In essence; this is a pop album, only beefed up with some added brutality. Not to mention the pretty crude "shocking" art-work.

In short; this album is twenty-two years old and it has been left behind in a time-warp. It is still a pretty charming album. But quality wise, it is decent and nothing more. It is a typical two stars album.
